Curriculum

Winthrop provides a rigorous and relevant curriculum based on the Connecticut Core Standards and Next Generation Science Standards to all students in kindergarten through grade five. 

Winthrop has a unique schedule where students transition to different classrooms throughout the day. Each class has one teacher for Science and Math and another partner teacher for Literacy. Students also attend two 45-minute blocks each day of either Reading Intervention, Art, Music, Technology, PE, Library or iPad Lab.

As Winthrop STEM Elementary Magnet School has an extended school day, there is a limited homework policy. All students are asked to read for 20 minutes daily and to practice grade-level appropriate math facts.
